Berry Blast Smoothie!

Hey world,

Smoothies are an essential in the upcoming summer months, they are a refreshing, healthy drink which helps you to maintain a balanced diet.

I always have a smoothie as a snack to help resist unhealthy temptations, as they are full of fruit they help me with my sweet cravings. I am no nutritionist but even though fruit contains sugar it will not cause great weight gain (unlike Haribos!) I have done a small amount of research and learnt that this is because sugar in fruit hits the liver in small amounts which the body can therefore process. Now that I have 'lectured' you on the health benefits of smoothies you might be wondering if I am ever going to share the 'berry blast' smoothie recipe with you! I messed around with a basic strawberry and banana recipe to discover the amount of each ingredient I would add to get my taste buds tingling and also included a few more additions, feel free to reduce/add any of your own ideas:

  • Banana
  • 4-5 strawberries
  • Handful of raspberries
  • 100g of 0% fat yoghurt
No blender? No fear! Buying a blender doesn't necessarily have to burn a hole in your pocket, I got this blender which works perfectly from NEXT at home, it includes the  blender machine and two containers which you could switch the cap to turn it into a bottle for easy and quick use. This was at a price of £20!
